The Lumineers that we offer in our Saint Louis cosmetic dentist office can truly change patients’ lives. Because it is a big decision to start Lumineer’s treatment, many patients reach out to our dental team with great questions about how this cosmetic option works.
Today we are going to answer some of these patient questions, right here in this article! We hope that this short overview will give you a better understanding of how Lumineers have helped so many people.
Let’s get started!
Q: What is the difference between Lumineers and dental bonding?
A: Great question! Both Lumineers and dental bonding can be used to improve the appearance and structure of a patient’s smile. The difference between these two options has to do with the material used, as well as the application process.
Dental bonding uses dental resin to resurface teeth. This resin is placed and shaped on the tooth, and then cured so that it forms a hard bond with the dental enamel. Lumineers, on the other hand, are made of porcelain. These cosmetic restorations are individually created, and then attached to the patient’s tooth with a dental grade adhesive.
Q: Once my Lumineers are on my teeth, do I take them out clean them? Like dentures?
A: No, and in fact many patients find this to a major advantage of Lumineers. Once your Lumineers is attached to your tooth, it will stay in place permanently. You’ll brush and floss your Lumineers just like you do natural teeth. With proper care they usually stay in a patient’s mouth for over a decade before they need to be repaired or replaced.
Lumineers look and feel natural—plus they can be used to achieve a wide number of cosmetic results. So, if you think that Lumineers might be right for you, please feel free to contact our Saint Louis Lumineers dentists for further information.
