Traditional tooth replacement treatments, like dentures and bridges, are designed to sit on top of the patient’s gum tissue. These prostheses are held in place because they are custom-fit to the patient’s gums and jaws, or because they are anchored to adjacent teeth.

Now, however, our dentist is able to permanently anchor replacement teeth in the patient’s natural jawbone tissue. Using small dental-grade titanium posts to replace the natural tooth root, our team rebuilds the missing tooth from the base up.

Dental implant roots can be used in a number of ways. If you are replacing single teeth with individual dental implants, then every implant root will be capped with a customized dental restoration that looks just like a natural tooth.

Alternatively, you can use a few strategically-placed titanium roots to anchor larger dental prostheses, like dentures. A full denture can often be held in place with just four or five implant roots. The base of the denture is actually retrofitted so that it locks in place over the titanium posts.

There are a number of advantages of using dental implant technology:

  • Your replacement teeth stay in place permanently, with an exceptionally natural look and feel
  • The titanium root of the implant helps to support adjacent bone tissue and prevent jawbone deterioration
  • Day-to-day maintenance and care is minimal and intuitive
  • With proper care, these replacement teeth can last for decades before they need to be repaired or replaced

With all of the recent advancements in restorative dentistry, there is simply no reason to continue living with an incomplete smile. Call our St. Louis dental implant dentists to learn more or to schedule a personal consultation!
