Saint Louis Cosmetic Dentist Helps People Achieve Natural Looking Aesthetic Results

Written by Dr. Grayem on May 20, 2016

The number one goal, whenever our Saint Louis dentists provide cosmetic dentistry treatments, is to make sure that results look natural and seamless for the patient. There are a number of factors that go into making sure that cosmetic treatments blend with the person’s natural teeth and smile. Today our dental team is going to be reviewing some of these considerations with you.

When you undergo cosmetic treatment, you are generally either:

· Trying to improve the appearance of your entire smile/all of your teeth: if this is the case, we make sure that your aesthetic results work with your overall dental and facial structure.

· Treating individual teeth that are damaged or out of balance: in this instance, we tailor your dental treatments to ensure that the teeth we treat will blend with your natural enamel, and look indistinguishable from your real teeth.

These are the things that we consider when customizing your cosmetic treatments:

Your natural dental shapes—some people have teeth that are more angular, while others have more rounded dental shapes. When crafting restorations and applying dental bonding, we’ll take into account your existing dental shapes.

The shade of your restoration and dental resin will also look natural for your smile. Here is one common consideration: when patients want to lighten all of their teeth, and have restorations or bonding placed, we recommend lightening your natural teeth as the first step. Then, we can match your restoration to your post-treatment smile.

When you think about it, different peoples’ teeth are also sized differently. If you naturally have smaller or more delicate teeth, we will make sure your restorations reflect that, etc. The ultimate point is that there are no “one size fit all” treatments in our office.
